Nasal Spray - My nose felt so painful, like it was stinging all the way through. I used a nasal spray to moisturize and relieve, and it worked on a few flights, but on the last flight the air was so super dry I felt I had to spray every few minutes, which wasnt convenient at all. Someone told me to actually put some Vaseline on the inside of my nostrils….gross right?….but you can be damn sure I am going to try it. If you suffer from painful dry nose like me, you will do anything to relieve it.
Hand Lotion - My hands became so dried out but it was definitely a combination of washing my hands a few times after bathroom use and the air con, and then ofcourse not rubbing some lotion in. To avoid this, make sure to take some heavy duty thick hand lotion with you.
An empty sports water bottle - Some airplanes offer unopened bottles of water and others offer plastic cups of water. Who wants to sit for hours in a small space WITH the table pulled out? Get the water, fill up your sports bottle and VOILA! Put it anywhere, sip it anytime and feel assured that you won’t mess on yourself.
Lip balm – Your lips dry out too, and the scaly skin on my lips become awfully irritating. A conditioning lip balm is a MUST.
Thick full neck pillow – A must if you are planning to snooze on your flight, but be warned, don’t just take any neck pillow. The thicker and fuller it is the better. If your pillow is floppy its actually no good at all because you wont get a good position and you will end up with a very cranky and sore neck.
Micellar water decanted into a small spray bottle – Trust me, this is BOMB! The air-con will make your skin super oily if you are typically oily or combination skin. So if you have a spritz of micellar water, just spray it on and wipe with a cotton pad, to refresh and feel normal again. For those why have dry skin, make sure to hydrate your skin with a good facial moisturizer.
Toothbrush and Toothpaste, breath mints and/ gum – for obvious reasons. Your seat buddy and whoever you are meeting on the airport will thank you for this.
Noise cancelling earphones or plugs - Crying babies, loud foreigners, chatty next door neighbours...trust me, this is a reality when all you planned for was some quiet time on the plane.
Snacks – Take small packs of your favourite sweets or chocs if you're bad, or trail mix and dried fruit if you're good. Seriously though, if you need some comfort snacking while waiting to arrive at your destination, you will have packed it right in your handbag.
Basic touch up makeup products (lipstick, pressed powder, mascara and eyebrow pencil) – To look your absolute fabulous self when you walk off that plane and into a new place…..or for that chatty (not so creepy anymore) stranger sitting next to you.
So that's it guys. There are so many more that some gals like to take with and then there are the minimalists who take with only one or two but its all up to you.
